Plants are biological systems that are in constant negotiation with environmental factors. Such factors have a shaping action on the plant’s body. Thus, understanding and correlating the anatomical characters of plant species to different environmental factors (light, water, soil, temperature, etc.) is a way for unraveling the morphoanatomical adaptions of plants to the environments where they occur. I also seek to find plant anatomical characteristics that do not vary according to the environment, in order to make use of these characteristics in taxonomical studies, thus using anatomy as a tool applied to the taxonomy and phylogeny.I am also particularly interested in secretory structures and the chemical naturel of the secretion, that is, the specific metabolites secreted by the different types of secretory structures. Our works seek to establish ecological relationships, even if hypothetical, with the animals that visit such structures, or the environment.
